Not likely. EMFace is safe for patients with dental implants with appropriate oversight and adaptations. The technology mainly targets muscle tissue, not the hardware in your mouth. We’ll always review your dental and medical history beforehand to ensure it’s right for you. Ideally, we wait until after orthodontic treatment has been completed prior to commencing EMFace or Exion wand treatment.
We recommend waiting until the area is adequately healed, typically 2 to 4 weeks. When there are no signs of swelling or tenderness, we can safely begin treatment.
Yes. The Exion HA1 Wand is a surface-level treatment that uses ultrasound jelly and does not come into contact with your gums or teeth. This makes it safe for patients with tooth sensitivity or gum disease.
Results often last up to a year. Since EMFace helps rebuild muscle tone and reduce fat, outcomes are long-lasting, especially when paired with a healthy lifestyle and daily skincare routine. Once the initial treatment of four sessions is completed, the maintenance treatments need only be done a single time.
To preserve your results, we recommend a maintenance session every 9 to 12 months. These quick visits help keep facial muscles toned and definition intact over time.
Emface works on and through the skin. For this reason, patients who have recently completed or are actively using medications like Accutane are not candidates for the care. Patients with current skin infections, sensitivities, and disorders should delay treatment. Patients with nerve pain in the treatment region should consult the clinician.
Additionally, patients with metal implants in the treatment areas(chin implants, cheek implants, jaw advancement, etc) are not candidates for those particular areas. Patients with any embedded medical electronics like pace makers should also avoid this treatment.
Generally, grumpy patients who hate everything and everyone are also unlikely to be satisfied by anything or anyone that we can provide, and should avoid treatment. You know who you are, and so does everybody else. Don’t make this awkward.
